Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar on Thursday said that Pakistan seeks friendly relations with India based on mutual respect. She stated this during a meeting with Indian High Commissioner Sharat Sabharwal here at the Foreign Office.
According to Foreign Office, the Foreign Minister stressed that Pakistan sought friendly relations with India on the basis of mutual respect and equality. "Pakistan is keen to take the dialogue process forward in a sustained and result-oriented manner," the Foreign Office quoted Khar as having told the Indian High Commissioner.
The Indian High Commissioner expressed satisfaction at the conclusion of the first round of resumed dialogue process. He stated that the government of India was encouraged by the successful visits to India by Foreign Minister and Minister for Commerce of Pakistan in recent months. "India is keen to take the process forward," Sabharwal said.
Khar, upon assuming charge of her office, had concluded the first round of dialogue on July 27, 2011 with her Indian counterpart Shri S. M. Krishna in New Delhi in which the two neighbouring states vowed to take the dialogue process forward on peace and security including CBMs, Jammu and Kashmir and promotion of friendly exchanges, besides other issues.
