United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is arriving on a crucial visit to Islamabad today (Thursday) to hold talks with country's civil and military leadership on war against terrorism, regional peace and other issues of mutual interest.
According to diplomatic sources the US Secretary of States will meet President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Foreign Minister Hina Rabani Khar and Army Chief Ashfaq Pervez Kayani during her second important visit to Pakistan. Sources said that the US Secretary of State would also be addressing a joint press conference with Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar on Friday after her talks with Pakistani authorities.
Relations between Washington and Islamabad became tense following allegations levelled by top American officials against Pakistan's spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Sources said that Clinton will also discuss the issue of Haqqani Network, which is a source of constant threat to US and Nato forces in Afghanistan. They said that Pakistan will actively take up the issue of cross-border terrorism with US Secretary of State, besides discussing issues of mutual interest.
Clinton is visiting Islamabad following a crucial trip by US Special Representative to Pakistan and Afghanistan Marc Grossman on October 13, which is said to be helpful to remove misunderstanding and defuse tension in relations between the two allies in the war on terror.
