At least nine persons including two females were killed in separate incidents in different areas of the metropolis here on Sunday. According to police and rescuers, a member of Karachi Goods Carrier Association (KGCA) fell prey to targeted killing in SITE area on Sunday evening.
Police said the incident took place near Gulbai Chowrangi in the precincts of SITE B police section. They said the deceased, who was later identified as Ghulam Ali, 52, son of Faiz Mohammad, was intercepted and shot by armed bike riders when he was going in his car.
They said the victim received fatal bullets wounds in his chest and succumbed to his injuries on the way to Civil Hospital, Karachi. SHO SITE Zaman Khan suspected the involvement of Lyari gangsters in the murder. Meanwhile, the KGCA gave strike call for Monday to protest the killing.
Two Baloch gunned each other down over a minor issue at Baloch Para in the limits of Jamsheed Quarter police. The incident took place in Baloch Para, where Zulfiqar Baloch and Abdul Ghaffar Baloch quarrelled over a pity issue and shot each other with pistol.
Resultantly, both sustained fatal bullet wounds and were taken to Civil Hospital Karachi where doctors pronounced them dead. Police said the bodies were handed over to their families after autopsy. No case was registered till filing of this report. A man killed his wife in New Karachi in the remits of Sir Syed police. Police said the victim Sitara Perveen, 35, wife of Afzal was strangulated to death and her husband portrayed her death as suicide.
Police said the accused Afzal during initial course of investigation admitted to murder his wife over domestic issue. They said the deceased was mother of six-year old girl while Afzal was arrested and a case was registered against him.
A bullet-riddled body was found in a Rickshaw at Rehri Goth in Sukhan police remits. They said the victim, who was identified as Muhammad Aftab, a resident of Shairpao Colony and used to run Rickshaw, was kidnapped and then murdered. A security guard of a private company was shot dead in the remits of Nazimabad Police station.
Police said the deceased Khalil Khan, who was deployed at the said area, received bullet on his head when his riffle went off accidentally. Resultantly, he died on the spot. The body was handed over to his family after autopsy.
A girl lost her live when a car turned turtle at Domba Goth in the remits of Gadap City police station. Police said the victim, Erum, 25, who was on the way to a restaurant to have dinner with her friend Naveed, faced the road accident at Superhighway. Resultantly, both received severe injures while Erum succumbed to her injures on spot.
Another boy was killed in a road mishap in the limits of Korangi Industrial area police station. The victim, who was identified as Shari Chushti, 29, a resident of Korangi, was knocked down by a speedy vehicle when he was on his way to home on a motorbike. The errant driver managed to flee. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) and was later handed over to the family. A menial worker lost his life when he fell from the rooftop of a under construction building in the jurisdiction of Shah Latif Police station.
