Chief of Army Staff (CoAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani said on Thursday that Saudi Arabia has played an important role to maintain peace and stability in this region especially in Afghanistan. Talking to newspersons after witnessing joint military exercise Al-Samsaam-IV between Pakistan Army and Saudi Land Forces near Jhelum, he said that Saudi Arabia still has a role in Afghanistan and in the regional security.
Responding to a question, he said, Pakistan Army has made all the arrangements to counter terrorist attacks on its territory from Afghanistan and hoped that such kind of attacks would not take place again. He said he has great confidence in Pakistan Army regarding defence of the country.To yet another question, he said that Pakistan army has achieved great successes against terrorists in Swat, Malakand and Waziristan but added there was not military solution to every problem. Now, the civil administration should take charge at the areas which have been cleared by Pakistan Army as it cannot stay in any area permanently, he added.
