Prime Minister challenges PML-N to move no-trust motion

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday said that the opposition was inciting people to come on roads to protest against power outages. Talking to media after inaugurating a photo exhibition in commemoration with 6th year of earthquake 2005 at Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA), Gilani played down the opposition criticism and challenged it to move no confidence vote against him in the Parliament.
He said the opposition which has become isolated, has nothing to do and constantly changing its stance regarding different issues. He said people do not want agitation but some forces are inciting them. The prime minister said the opposition would find another excuse to critics the government when the problem of load shedding would be resolved in a couple of days.
He said the opposition seems scared of upcoming Senate elections in March 2012 after foreseeing clear victory of Pakistan People's Party. Gilani said Pakistan Muslim League (Q) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) are coalition partners of the government and PPP and PML-Q would jointly contest next elections.
He said the US-Pakistan relations are improving. In response to a question about the opposition plan to hold protest in front of the Presidency, Gilani termed their call as unfair because what he said the opposition is part of the Parliament. Although the prime minister declined to comment on Punjab government working but stated that dengue and Imran Khan are enough to upset Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.
He said he does not want to comment on Punjab government that is fighting dengue. Gilani reminded to a questionnaire that the PPP-led government had increased salary of armed forces by 100 percent and civil servants by 50 percent. The prime minister said petroleum prices have been linked with the international prices and accordingly changes are adjusted in domestic market. He also mentioned '3Ds' (Dialogue, Development and Deterrence) in war against terrorism despite external criticism and launched operation in Swat and Malakand when talks failed.
