Twelve persons including three women were killed and more than 20 injured in an explosion here on Eid day. According to CCPO Ahsan Mahbub it was a suicide attack and the suicide bomber wanted to hit explosive-laden vehicle with Eidgah. In the meanwhile an explosion took place.
Bomb disposal Squad said about 25-kg explosive was used in the explosion. It was so intense that five persons died on the spot. Ten vehicles parked in the area caught fire. Roofs of two houses in the vicinity and walls were also collapsed. The injured were shifted to CMH and Civil Hospital where seven more succumbed to their injuries.
Police and security forces reached the site and cordoned off the area. A probe was under way. Meanwhile, Tehreek Nifaz Fiqah Jafaria said on Friday that it was a conspiracy of anti-Islam and anti-Pakistan elements. It said provincial government has utterly failed in restoring order. It added that Sunni and Shia are brothers and no power can separate them. Elements involved in the explosion are neither Muslims nor human beings. The Tehreek asked the government to arrest real accused involved in the murder of innocent people.
