At least two people included driver of the train were killed and 17 other were wounded when Khyber Mail ran into halted Babu train at the Badami Bagh railway crossing in Lahore here on Tuesday. According to details, the Khyber Mail crashed into the Babu train standing at the Badami Bagh railway crossing that killed two persons including a child Sadiq and an assistant driver Muhammad Javed while many others sustained serious injuries.
The eye witness told the media persons, standing on the spot, that the Babu train was standing at the Badami Bagh railway due to an accident that had killed a child when the following Khyber Mail collided into it that over turned a bogie and killed the driver of Khyber Mail, a child and passenger.
Rescue teams and Pakistan Railways administration and high officials reached on the spot and carried out rescue efforts. The injured were taken to the near by Mayo hospitals and Yakee Gate hospital where some were discharged after providing first ads and seriously injured were hospitalised General Manager Pakistan Railway, Saeed Akhthar said that inquiry had been initiated and culprits would be punished as per law. Pakistan Railways which has already acute shortage of locomotive deprived of a more locomotive engine because one locomotive discarded in this accident.
