Rs 1.5 billion ST collected by SRB

Published Updated

The Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) has collected Rs 1.5 billion in the head of Sales Tax on Services (SToS) for July 2011. Though 25th August was the last date of paying taxes at SRB and 27th August 2011, was last date of filing of returns, the registered taxpayers are still paying their sales tax on services. This was stated by the spokesman of SRB while talking to Business Recorder on Tuesday.
He said that SRB has collected Rs 1.5 billion, and is expecting that Rs 2 billion would be deposited at SRB in this regard. He said that many banks, insurance and telecommunication companies have paid their taxes to SRB while many of them have still not paid SToS to SRB despite non-issuance of notification of withdrawal of FED on Services by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
He thanked those companies and individuals related to almost all services who followed Sindh Sales Tax on Services Act 2011, and the rules made under this act and paid their Sales tax on services at SRB. The spokesman advised taxpayers that if last date of paying SToS had expired but the companies and individuals who did not pay their taxes may contact affiliated banks and offices in this regard. He hinted that after the Eid-ul-Fitr, legal action would be taken as per law against those companies and individuals who have not followed the Sindh sales tax on services act 2011.
