Mirza's charges: Nisar wants judicial commission

Amid growing political bickering in the country following the allegations by former senior Sindh minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Interior Minister Rehman Malik.
Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Monday called for formation of a judicial commission to investigate the allegations and also demanded that the country's security and intelligence agencies should place their detailed reports regarding Karachi situation before the Parliament.
"Enough is enough, now the nation wants to hear the truth," said Nisar in a statement, adding the allegations by a responsible former minister (Mirza) had exposed the incumbent government before the nation and the charge-sheet of Dr Mirza was not only against the MQM but also against the government. "The nation wants the government to respond to these very serious allegations," he demanded.
"It's not a political statement but levelling such allegations and unearthing the facts by swearing on the Holy Quran, would have far reaching implications that can not be neglected," Nisar said. The Leader of the Opposition demanded that a judicial commission headed by a judge of Supreme Court be formed to investigate the allegation levelled by Dr Zulfiqar Miza. He further said that the country's security and intelligence agencies should place their reports regarding Karachi situation before the Parliament.
He demanded that the National Assembly session should immediately be summoned after Eid to discuss the Karachi situation, adding the government and its allies must explain and answer to the charges levelled by Dr Mirza which relate to the security and integrity of the country. He said the allegations had triggered deep concerns across the country and the nation must know the facts.
Nisar said it was unfortunate that the rulers due to their visionless policies had brought the country on the verge of collapse where the country's ruling class was at warfare for their vested interests in the name of democracy. He was of the view that the inefficiency of the rulers had spoiled the political and democratic culture of the country that caused political instability.
"It is very unfortunate that people of Karachi are bearing the burden of the incapability of the rulers," he said, adding that the entire nation now wanted the politicians to come forward and steer the country out of the crisis. He was of the view that immediate steps were needed to improve the deteriorating law and order situation in the country.
Chaudhry Nisar further said the government should now stop staging drama and telling lies and inform the nation about the facts regarding the allegations levelled by Dr Mirza. He said that if the parliament and the country's institutions remained silent over the allegation, then it would give an impression that these institutions were not sincere with the future of the country.
