Taliban kill three Afghan government workers

Two gunmen on a motorcycle killed a prosecutor in the southern Afghan province of Helmand, while two government officials were gunned down in other areas, officials said Sunday. Prosecutor Mohammad Azeem was shot dead in Gereshk district on his way to work, the governor's office said in a statement, which blamed the killing on "enemies of peace and Islam."
The Taliban, in a statement posted on their website, claimed responsibility for the killing. Meanwhile, the education director of Omany district in Paktika province was shot dead Sunday while he was on his way to work, a statement from the provincial governor's office said.
