The Met Office on Saturday forecast dry weather for the country's cotton belt and advised the farmers to irrigate their crops as per need. "Due to dry weather expected in the cotton belt, farmers are advised to irrigate the crops as per requirement," says the Met Office fresh advisory to farmers issued for next 10 days of August.
The forecast also warns of rise in temperature level by 2-3 degree centigrade in the agricultural planes of upper Sindh, central and southern planes of Punjab, lower Khyber Pukhtunkhwa and adjoining areas of Balochistan during the next five days. However, it says temperature may gradually drop by the same level during cloudy or rainy days mostly during the last five days of the month.
The day time temperature may range between 35 degree centigrade and 45 degree centigrade during the next five days and 30 degree centigrade to 40 degree centigrade during the last five days of the month in most parts of the agricultural planes of the country. However, the temperature range may remain 35 degree centigrade and 45 degree centigrade in central, southern parts of Punjab, lower Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, upper Sindh and adjoining areas of Balochistan, the advisory adds.
The monsoon currents are penetrating into north-eastern and occasionally in southern parts of the country and will continue to penetrate during the last ten days of August. "Due to which light to moderate rain is expected in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northern Punjab during mostly from August 24 and may persist for two to three days. Light rain may occur at a few places in Balochistan including Barkhan, Sibbi and Khuzdar and Sindh during the next fives days," it says. The advisory says gusty winds may prevail occasionally in the monsoon belt and adjoining areas during the last ten days of August.
