Initial findings of Chakra Goth incident: why private coach was used to transport cops?

The National Crisis Management Cell (NCMC), set up on the directives of President Zardari, has come up with some initial findings on the Chakra Goth incident that left nine persons including four policemen killed and several others injured on Friday night.
Sources said President Zardari had ordered authorities concerned - interior ministry, home ministry, intelligence agencies, etc, to give a detailed report on the incident. Keeping the directives in view, the NCMC has communicated the initial findings of the said incident to the President Office, sources added.
According to the initial report of the NCMC, the police authorities had engaged a private coach for the transportation of the police officials from Razzaqabad Training Centre to Quaidabad police station. It further said that all the police officials, who were armed and wore civil dresses, came from Larkana. The NCMC in its report opined that the use of a private vehicle for the transportation of these police officials was one of the major causes of the incident.
The report said the unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire on police van over on the suspicion that that the vehicles was carrying rival group men. The indiscriminate firing claimed the lives of four policemen and injured several others. It further said the police had also confiscated 15 bikes, which are said to be owned by the attackers. The incident claimed overall nine lives including four policemen. The five civilians who lost their lives in this incident have been identified as Hassan, Rizwan, Saleem, Salman and Shahid.
It is interesting to note that the police authorities claimed to have detained two injured attackers namely Kamran and Sohail from Chakra Goth after the incident. However, these two persons sustained bullet wounds in an armed ambush at Korangi No 5 F-1 area that left two political workers namely Shahid Chaman and Islam killed and three others including these two persons injured at Awami Colony police station limits. Hospital sources said Kamran and Sohail were admitted to JPMC an hour before Chakra incident took place.
Meanwhile, the funeral prayers of three policemen namely Mehrab Ali, Wazeer Ali and Ali Abbas were offered at police headquarters, Garden Area on Saturday. Police officials said the deceased Mehrab and Wazeer were the residents of Kambar-Shahdadkot while Ali Abbas hailed from Naushero Feroz.
Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Hussain Wasan, Inspector General of Sindh Police, Wajid Ali Durrani, and other top police officials attended the funeral procession. Wasan on the occasion announced Rs 2 million each for the martyred policeman to honour their sacrifices while Rs 0.2 million for the injured and Rs 0.1 million for slightly injured. Wasan told media that the authorities had arrested some 100 culprits, who were reportedly found involved in creating law and order situation. Later, the bodies of the police personnel sent to their hometowns for interment.
