I am glad to learn that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry is holding Achievement Awards. I congratulate LCCI President Mr Shahzad Ali Malik, Senior Vice President Sheikh Mohammad Arshad and Vice President Mr Sohail Azhar for their splendid efforts for promotion of trade & industry.
Our government has introduced financial and capital sector reforms to encourage participation of the private sector in the economic progress of the country. Tariff has been rationalised; customs procedures have been simplified and an investor-friendly tax regime has been introduced. In short, government's transparent policies have provided a level-playing field to businessmen to improve their competitive edge in a business-friendly environment.
Today, the government is striving to provide a conducive environment to the private sector to actively participate in the country's economic development to further increase its industrial base. I wish every success to the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry and hope that it would continue to play its constructive role in the economic development of the country.
