The Karachi Port handled 129,505 tonnes of cargo including 95,647 tonnes of import cargo, 33,858 tonnes of export cargo and 4,185 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 95,647 tonnes comprised of 29,176 tonnes of containerised cargo; 733 tonnes of wheat and 65,738 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 33,858 tonnes comprised of 30,763 tonnes of containerised cargo; 25 tonnes of general cargo; 2,470 tonnes of bulk cargo: 2,050 tonnes of cement; 420 tonnes of talcum powder and 600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Four ships namely HS Challenger, Cap Gabriel, MT Karachi and Alpine Alaska with two container ships, crude oil tanker and LSFO respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Five vessels viz OEL Trust, Argent Iris, Green Field-1, Yang Hai and Safina-2 carrying container ship, oil tanker, fertiliser carrier, coal ship and rice carrier respectively are currently at the berths.
Four ships namely Hyundai General, OEL Trust, MT Lahore and Argent Iris carrying container ship, crude oil tanker and oil tanker expected to sail on Friday, while four ships namely YM Asia, Lara Rickmers, Kota Azam and Baltic Cruiser carrying three container ships and talcum powder ship respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.
A wheat carrier namely Nizar-M is expected to sail on Sunday. Three vessels Emirates Kanako, APL Sokhana and Global Genesis with two container ships and coal ship respectively due to arrive on Friday, while eight vessels viz OOCL Dalian, MOL Bravery, Wan Hai-605, YM Fuzhou, Atlantic Frontier, MT Quetta, Lodestar Genesis and Royal Peridot carrying four container ships, mogas ship, crude oil tanker, MEG carrier and ethanol ship respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
The total import cargo of 51,565 tonnes includes 20,805 tonnes of furnace oil; 6,630 tonnes of iron ore; 3,050 tonnes of chemicals and 21,080 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 26,420 tonnes includes 5,720 tonnes of cement and 20,400 tonnes of containerised cargo.
Six ships namely CV CMA CGM Strauss, MV New Sun, CV Izumo, CV Nele Maersk, CV CMA CGM Eiffel and MT East Med Gas sailed out to sea during last 24 hours. A total number of eight vessels CV Izumo, CV Nele Maersk, CV CMA CGM Eiffel, MV Tycoon-II, MV Afamia, MV Mahmut Saka, MT East Med Gas and MT Pacific Energy are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, chemicals, iron ore and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Two ships namely New Challenger and Long Champ carrying diesel oil and chemicals respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of two vessels viz Glory and Long Champ carrying containers and chemicals are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Friday. Three ships namely CV MSC Magali, CV MSDC Sierra-II and CV Maersk Carolina carrying containers are due to arrive at Port Qasim.
