Textile industry has hailed Chairman All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) Gohar Ejaz for being honoured with Hilal-I-Imtiaz, the highest civil award, on Pakistan Day. They said it is for the first time in the business history of Pakistan that anyone, not only from the textile industry but business community in general, is honoured with such a highest civil award.
The Aptma spokesman said Gohar Ejaz has had made continuous selfless, dedicated and successful efforts for provision of essential wherewithal for optimising its contribution to the economy and general welfare. He said his successful representation for securing a free market operating regime brought benefit in the shape of increased production and enhanced textile exports that reached a record $13.9 billion during outgoing fiscal 2010-11. Ensuring of the free market mechanism, he said, brought much benefit to the value-added sector and resulted in a resource transfer of Rs 350 billion to the farm sector of the cotton economy.
