Punjab Labour Minister, Haji Ehsaan-ud-Din Qureshi has said that government will set up new social security hospitals in Sheikhupura, Rahim Yar Khan, and Jhang to provide state of the art health care facilities to labourers. While talking to workers' delegation here Saturday, the minister said the existing hospitals would be upgraded for which rupees 440 million will be spent on procurement of latest medial gadgets.
He said that Rs 2.427 billion will be spent on provision of medical treatment in the social security hospitals which is 46.92 percent of total income, whereas Rs 1.134 billion will be spent on treatment of labourers and their dependants at the dispensaries.
The social security department is introducing hospital management information system costing Rs 107 million, to be launched in phases at dispensary level, he added. Ehsaan-ud-Din said that responding to different challenges faced in the delivery of healthcare in the province, Punjab government has introduced many reforms in the health sector through regeneration of existing resources.
