MUMBAI: Indian shares rose 0.7 percent in early trade on Friday on hopes the central bank will hold rates at its policy review around noon (0630 GMT) as the economy cools.
At 9:17 a.m. (0347 GMT), the main 30-share BSE index was up 0.72 percent to 15,950.78.
The broader 50-share NSE index was up 0.9 percent at 4,786.25.
