Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar will pay an official visit to Ankara from August 11-13 to discuss bilateral matters, issues of regional connectivity as well as the regional and global situation with her Turkish counterpart and President and Prime Minister of Turkey.
According to Foreign Office, the Foreign Minister's visit to Ankara on the invitation of her Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu, was reflective of the existing brotherly relations between the two countries. Diplomatic sources said that Khar during her visit would likely discuss with her Turkish counterpart and other high ups, the Afghan-led and Afghan-owned reconciliation process.
Afghanistan is of key importance for both Pakistan and Turkey and in January 2010, Turkey had hosted a regional conference on Afghanistan in which India was not invited because of the likely objection by Pakistan, sources said adding that Islamabad was of the view that the conference was only for immediate neighbours of Afghanistan and not India. Sources further said that the recent foreign ministerial level talks between India and Pakistan was likely to be on the agenda of talks between Davutoglu and Khar. The Foreign Office said that during the visit, the Foreign Minister will hold consultations with Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu. Khar will also call on President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
