'15 more model bazaars to be set up in various districts'

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that setting up of model bazaars is a splendid project, which has provided great relief to the people. He said that not only quality essential items are available to the citizens at fixed rates in model bazaars but other facilities have also been provided to the consumers.
He said that six model bazaars have been completed, while the scope of this project will be extended to all districts of the province. He said that 15 more model bazaars would be set up in various districts of the province this year. He said that the measures taken for the supply of daily use items to the citizens at fixed rates in Ramazan bazaars are commendable for which elected representatives, officers of departments concerned and district administration deserve all credit.
He was presiding over a meeting regarding setting up of model bazaars in the province and provision of quality essential items to the fasting people at cheaper rates in Ramazan bazaars, here on Wednesday. Provincial Minister for Agriculture Ahmed Ali Aulakh, Chairman Model Bazaar Project Muhammad Afzal Khokhar, Chairman Price Control Committee Bilal Yasin, Senior Member Board of Revenue, Secretaries of Finance, Agriculture and Industries and District Co-ordination Officer Lahore were present in the meeting.
The Chief Minister said that establishment of model bazaars in the province is a revolutionary and excellent project of the Punjab government and has been widely appreciated by the people.
He said that he had twice visited model bazaar in Township and a large number of people had commended the project. He said that six model bazaars have been set up in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sahiwal and Bahawalpur, while 15 more model bazaars will be established in Faisalabad, Multan, Gujrat, Toba Tek Singh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Mianwali and other districts during the current year. He directed Secretary Industries to give a final shape to the project of setting up model bazaars and present it in the next meeting. He said that model bazaars would be set up in various districts in accordance with their ratio of population so that people could purchase necessary items without any problem and maximum people could benefit from these bazaars. He said that model of Project Management Unit should be adopted for model bazaars to ensure excellent facilities to the consumers. He appreciated the performance of Member National Assembly Muhammad Afzal Khokhar, Secretary Industries, Secretary Agriculture and District Co-ordination Officer Lahore regarding the establishment of model bazaars and said that the entire team has rendered commendable services. He said that DCOs of those districts where model bazaars have been set up would be called and encouraged.
He said that project of model bazaars is continuing successfully and people are deeply appreciating this project. He said that the culture of providing relief to the masses would have to be further promoted. He directed that no compromise should be made on the quality of essential items in model bazaars and provision of all facilities to the people under one-roof should be ensured. He appreciated green channel in model bazaars and lauded the performance of Secretary Agriculture in this regard. He directed senior member board of revenue to identity suitable locations throughout the province for setting up model bazaars and presents a report as early as possible.
The Chief Minister further said that due to implementation of the system evolved for monitoring the prices in Ramazan bazaars, quality items are available to the masses at the fixed rates and excellent arrangements have been made for facilitating the citizens. He eulogised the performance of Chairman Price Control Committee Bilal Yasin regarding the supply of daily use items to the people in Ramazan bazaars.
He directed that prices of necessary items in Ramazan bazaars should be constantly monitored. Earlier, Chairman Model Bazaars Project and Chairman Price Control Committee gave a detailed briefing regarding establishment of model bazaars and supply of essential items to the people in Ramazan bazaars. Chairman Model Bazaars Project Muhammad Afzal Khokhar informed that people are grateful to the Chief Minister for setting up model bazaar in Township where all facilities are available to them under one-roof. He said that the process of identifying the sites for setting up model bazaars in various districts of the province is in progress.
Chairman Price Control Committee Bilal Yasin said that measures taken for the provision of quality essential items at reasonable rates in Ramazan bazaars have been deeply appreciated by the masses. He said that he has visited Ramazan bazaars throughout the province and reviewed prices of essential commodities and people have expressed their satisfaction over the quality and prices of daily use items.
