The Lahore High Court here Wednesday adjourned to September 13 the proceedings with a petition of a contractor Azam Saeed and directing police not to arrest him. Earlier law officer informed the court that contractor had not completed project within time limit but got over payment and two cases against him were at the behest of the chef minister.
He also assured the court that they would not arrest him, as chef minister has constituted a committee to look into the matter. The court observed that if the contractor ready to pay back any amount owed towards him then why government likes to send him behind the bars. The court observed that police could arrest docaits and murderers but all police of Murree and Rawalpindi was behind a contractor. The court directed the police not to arrest him till next date of hearing and rose for the day.
Earlier court directed Inspector General of Punjab (IGP) police who appeared before the court to take action against all responsible police officers who registered fake cases against the contractor. IGP assured the court to take action against the responsible police officials.
On Tuesday, the court had summoned Advocate General Punjab and Punjab Inspector General of Police for Wednesday in the petition against implication of a Lahore-based contractor/architect in fake cases allegedly at the behest of chief minister who was working at a park in front of chief minister's house in Murree.
