The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has appealed to the Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif to shelve the idea of shifting Badami Bagh General Bus Stand out of Lahore. This step would not only deprive the affiliated markets of their business share but would also jack-up the graph of unemployment to new highs.
The LCCI President Shahzad Ali Malik raised this demand after having a meeting with a delegation of Badami Bagh Auto Market led by its Chairman Waqar Ahmad Mian on Wednesday. Shahzad Ali Malik said that the very idea of shifting of Badami Bagh Bus stand was a conspiracy against the Punjab Government therefore the Chief Minister should not listen to those who wanted to create anarchy-like situation in the province by selling such ideas.
He said that the Chief Minister should direct the concerned departments to ensure facilities at Badami Bagh Bus Stand instead coming up with the idea that would deprive government of huge revenue that is being deposited by the businessmen of the markets including Badami Bagh Auto Market, Urdu Bazar, Gunpat Road and Brandreth Road.
He further said that the highest-ever rate of inflation, acute shortage of gas, high rate of General Sales Tax, high cost of doing business had already been adding to the problems of businessmen and the government should avoid any such decision that could trouble business community. The LCCI President demanded the Chief Minister Punjab Mian Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif to call an urgent meeting of stakeholders to listen to their point of view.
