Smuggled goods worth millions of rupees seized

Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation Lahore seized various smuggled goods worth millions of rupees following raids in different incidents in the month of July 2011. According to the details, recovered goods included artificial leather, clothes, tyres of cars, spare parts of 16 vehicles, 1000 cartons of cigarettes, 27 VCR and computer hard drives worth Rs 18,80,000.
A spokesman of the Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation also took 23 smuggled vehicles into custody including land cruiser, corolla, Suzuki jimny jeep, mazda truck and two vehicles used for movement of different smuggled goods. The Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has referred the cases to departments concerned. Deputy Collector and Acting In Charge of the Anti Smuggling Organisation, Farrah Farooque asked the Superintendent In Charge, Abdul Hameed Bhatti, Deputy Superintendent, Malik Yaseen and others to further improve their performance. She also urged the ASO to make full efforts to foil smuggling bids before Eid, the spokesman added.
