Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Friday congratulated the newly elected Chairman Sialkot Press Club, Hamayun Iqbal Malik and other office bearers on their election and expressed hope that the newly elected representatives of the club will work for the betterment of journalists.
The minister stressed upon the journalists that they work for highlighting the soft image of Pakistan through their reports aimed at defusing misconceptions around the globe. She also urged the media persons to work for projecting the unique export culture of Sialkot where 99 percent items produced are being exported in all parts of the world.
The business community of this export-oriented city and hub of cottage industry is playing its tremendous role not only in exports but also in providing employment opportunities to the industrial workers she said. The business community has built an international airport, which was built by the private sector and successfully functioning and catering to the needs of business community and general public.
She said that PPP led government is utilising all available resources for resolving the problems being confronted by the journalist community on top priority basis in the country. She said that government is focusing on promotion of healthy journalism and tracking it on modern lines in the country. She urged upon the media to highlight the achievements of peoples' government and development projects initiated for welfare of masses.
