Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Guftar Ahmed Chaudhry has announced different incentives for efficient and hardworking employees and said that 10 percent of the recovered amount would be paid to those employees that succeed in collecting it from chronic defaulters, and five percent of fine to be released from power thieves.
He was addressing a ceremony of Hydro Union Mumtazabad division to celebrate issuance of notifications regarding restoration of National Industrial Relations Commission and Union at the national level. Guftar said that Mepco is incurring a financial loss of rupees .11 billion per annum which has now reduced to Rs 1.5 billion and they are trying to make this company a profit-oriented institution by purging it of black sheep because there is no room for corrupt, dishonest and abettors of power-thieves in the company.
He assured that unprecedented facilities, incentives would be given to employees on achieving the target of profit-orientation. He urged upon the workers to make their best efforts in lessening line losses, recovery of dues from defaulters and apprehension of power-thieves. CEO said that power thieves and defaulters were not entitled to get any concession.
Mepco CEO announced special allowance of rupees 600/PM for meter readers/meter inspectors of urban areas and Rs 1,000 for rural areas meter inspectors/readers subject to the approval of board of directors. He said that Mepco would announce a package of facilitation for its workers if the company becomes a profitable entity and special cash prizes/promotions would be given on the best performance.
Secretary General of Hydro union, Khurshid Ahmed Khan greeted President, Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on the issuance of National Industrial Relations Ordinance 2011. He said that fake degree holders and opportunists who got written off loans of billions of rupees had declared the NIRC null and void. NIRC, he said was introduced by Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto who had implemented the charter of ILO in Pakistan, discouraged contract system. But, dictators revived these black laws to safeguard the interest of employers.
Mian Iftikhar Ahmed, Raja Ishtiaq Ahmed, Sajjad Hussain Shah, Muhammad Umar Lodhi, Chaudhry Khalid Mehmood, Chaudhry Muhammad Khalid, Sajjad Baloch, Ikram-ul-Haq Alvi, Malik Saeed Ahmed, Mukhtar Bukhari, Ghulam Rasul Gujjar, Chaudhry Muhammad Younas, Mian QAiser Abbas, Agha Hussain, Masroor Shah, Rana Abdul Razzaq, and Izhar Ahmed Khan also spoke on the occasion.
