ISLAMABAD: PPP Secretary Information Qamar Zaman Kaira said on Thursday that the PPP had rendered unprecedented sacrifices for the cause of democracy and its leaders laid down their lives for the country.
"Today, conspiracies are being hatched against our leadership. But it is not a new thing as it had been happening in the past too. Our leaders preferred death but did not compromise upon national interest," he said while speaking on a point of order in the National Assembly.
Kaira pointed out that the PPP gave historic sacrifices for the restoration of judiciary in the country and no one could match it in this regard. "In the past most of the governments came into being because of the ISI and other institutions but the PPP always came into power in spite of those forces," he said.
He said that Leader of the Opposition Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had stated that his party could topple the PPP government three years ago but it did not take any such step. "The opposition leader should explain how his party could do that, when it was not having the required strength in the House," he said.
