Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE) has exported over 2.6 million labourers to abroad during the last 10 years. Talking to newsmen on Tuesday, BEOE Director General Habib-ur-Rehman Khan said that from the date of establishment of Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE) to till date sent 5.5 million people to the different countries of the world and the government receiving huge remittances every year.
He said that Overseas Pakistanis had sent over 11 billion dollars remittances during the last fiscal year July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011 while 24 percent increased during last three years. Habib informed that 1,542 emigration agencies were registered but still around 1,100 functioning across the country, adding that BEOE receiving 0.3 million per new license registration and few thousand for its renewal. He said the government extended the infrastructure of BEOE to provide the best service to emigrants and taking more steps for its betterment.
To a question, Habib said that in 2008 around 0.4 million labour were exported to the different countries which was a record and adding that 90 percent labour exported to GCC countries.
