Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar on Tuesday assured Chairman Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Omar Farooq of Pakistan's support on Kashmir issue. Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar met Mirwaiz Omar Farooq at Pakistan High Commission here on Tuesday.
Mirwaiz Omar Farooq accompanied by Professor Abdul Ghani Bhat, Agha Syed Hassan Badgami, Bilal Ghani Lone, Mukhtia Ahmed Waza, Mussadiq Adil and Muhammad Abdullah Tarri had come from occupied Srinagar to meet Foreign Minister Khar. Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar was consulting Kashmiri leadership prior to the Pakistan-India ministerial meeting on 27 July, which will also discuss the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
Hina assured Mirwaiz of Pakistan's principled position on Jammu and Kashmir based on the realisation by the Kashmiri people of their right to self determination and that Pakistan sought the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. Mirwaiz Omer Farooq and the Kashmiri leaders appreciated the political, diplomatic and moral support given by Pakistan to the Kashmiri cause.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar met Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Chairman, Hurriyat Conference (G) here at the Pakistan High Commission. Syed Ali Geelani, who was accompanied by Ayaz Akbar and Shafi Reshi, had come especially from Srinagar to meet Foreign Minister Khar. The meeting was part of the Foreign Minister's consultations with the Kashmiri leadership prior to her meeting with her Indian counterpart on July 27. The ministerial meeting will discuss inter alia the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
Foreign Minister Khar also met Yasin Malik, Chairman JKLF in Lahore on Monday. Khar assured Syed Geelani that Pakistan's principled position on Jammu and Kashmir is based on the realisation by the Kashmiri people of their right to self determination, which has been assured to them by the UN and the international community. Pakistan seeks the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
Speaking to the Pakistani media present at the High Commission after the meeting, Syed Geelani said that the Kashmiris appreciate the moral, political and diplomatic support given by Pakistan to the Kashmiri people. The Kashmiris seek resolution to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute through the exercise of their right to self-determination, he said, adding, the Kashmiri youth in particular is committed to carrying forward this just cause and hold high the banner of justice for the Kashmiris.
