The implementation of 'Punjab Model of Proactive Governance' (PMPG) in 15 select districts of the province has helped improve service-delivery mechanism of the public sector, eradication of corruption as well as promoting realisation in government officials that they are answerable to the general public.
This was averred by the spokesman of the Punjab Model of Proactive Governance here on Sunday. He releasing the six- month performance report of the PMPG said that more than 1, 11, 000 citizens were sent SMS to seek their response during the last six months while the opinion of 24,000 others was solicited through telephone.
The spokesman dilated that 68,700 persons were contacted through internet for getting their feedback on property transactions. Likewise, 41,200 people gave their feedback through SMS from average phones about health transactions and 1014 others gave opinion about their experiences with the education department. The spokesman said that 82 percent citizens believe that as a result of PMPG initiative, situation at registry branch was now better due to enhanced monitoring and soliciting feedback from the citizens. He pointed that 90 percent citizens reported that staff in government health facilities co-operated with them and didn't ask for any money due to better monitoring and citizen feedback mechanism now in operation.
