Increasing incidents of car lifting, theft, drug pushing, robberies have caused panic among people living in Federal Capital while police claimed to continue its efforts to bring the crime graph to the lowest ebb.
The data collected by Business Recorder from police circles and police stations of Islamabad over 150 incidents of crimes of different nature were reported during the week in which people were deprived of 15 vehicles and other valuables including cash, gold ornaments, computers, laptops, watches, cell-phones etc.
Islamabad Police have claimed to have busted 13 gangs of criminals involved in robberies, car and motorcycles snatching, theft, cheating, use of fake currency, and drug pushing. Total 93 outlaws including three women were arrested by police during the week.
The car lifting has increased as 15 vehicles were stolen from the capital including 9 cars, while police have recovered nine cars and one Suzuki pick up from different areas. The data revealed that out of 15 cars snatched or lifted two were Toyota Corolla, one Suzuki Margalla, two Suzuki Cultus, one Suzuki Khyber, two Suzuki FX, five Suzuki Mehran, one Suzuki Alto and one pick up. Twelve motorcycles were also stolen during the week including three Honda 125 two Honda CD-70, one Yamaha and three Pak-Hero motorcycles.
During this week police have recovered huge quantity of arms including 24 pistols (30-bore), five pistols (9mm), one 7mm gun, two 12-bore guns, one 44 mm gun, one dragger and over five hundred rounds of different caliber. Capital Police recovered huge quantity of drugs and liquor during the week that include 4.1 kg heroin, 9.5 kg charas, 3 kg opium and over 2000 bottles of liquor, both imported and local.
