British High Commissioner Adam Thomson on Saturday said that Britain is collaboration with the government of Pakistan and is working on the construction of 40 schools and 10 bridges in district Swat.
Talking to media on the occasion of the inauguration of Akhund Baba Shagai Link Bridge in Swat, he said that Britain was providing assistance to Pakistan in several projects aimed at promotion of education in the militancy affected district Swat, where most of the schools and colleges have been blown out by militants or washed away in flood. Head of DFID, George Kriston and Brigadier Naeem of Pakistan Army were also present on the occasion.
The British High Commissioner said that UK government was providing assistance to Pakistan government in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the damaged infrastructure in Swat, and added that the assistance would continue in the future. He said that United Kingdom has been part of consistent efforts to promote education in the area that has suffered immensely on various fronts due to insurgency. The British envoy appreciated the efforts of the Pak Army for purging the area of militancy and restoring peace in it. Earlier, the British High Commissioner formally inaugurated the newly constructed Akhund Baba Shagai Link Bridge.
