Power shortfall has started sliding down with pleasant weather conditions amidst monsoon rains in Punjab. Power shortfall decreased to 4,703MW during the last 24 hours against over 5500MW earlier, as power generation increased to 13,974MW against a demand of 18,677MW.
Power generation through hydel, thermal, IPPs and RPPs showed improvement to 5,352MW, 1,825MW, 6592MW and 205MW respectively. Meanwhile, some 660MW electricity was supplied to the KESC during the last 24 hours. According to Pepco officials, power situation is likely to improve with fresh spell of rains. They said that hydel generation is likely to surpass 6,000MW ahead. Similarly, they added, smooth supply of furnace oil to thermal and IPPs generation would also add to the power supply situation during the holy month of Ramzan, as serious efforts are being made to clear outstanding dues of PSO by the government.
