Administrator Lahore Ahad Khan Cheema on Tuesday approved a surplus budget of City District Government Lahore (CDGL) for the fiscal year 2011-12 with a total outlay of Rs 20.68 billion. According to a city government's spokesperson, Rs 3.39 billion is allocated for on-going development work and Rs 14.4 billion has been set aside for non-development expenditure.
As per the District Officer (Finance and Planning) Mian Wajidur Rahaman, the existing budget is showing a surplus of Rs 110.02 million. The bulk of the budget will be spent on education, health, sanitation and special education. The spokesperson said the city government will bear an extra burden of Rs 1.82 billion for paying salaries, pensions and medical.
