Pakistan physically handicap team recorded a series victory against Afghanistan in the Friendship Cricket Series of three-dayer and two T20 matches played here at University Campus ground on Tuesday. Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Special Education Sittara Ayaz was the chief guest on this occasion.
Provincial Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Director Bait-ul-Maal Khyber Pakhtukhwa Syed Abdul Qasim Gillani, President LCDDP, Pakistan Professor Dr Abdul Hameed and large number of players and officials were also present.
The two Twenty20 were tied 1-1 with both won apiece while in the three one-dayer, Pakistan recorded victories in two one-day while Afghanistan won the first one.
In the last one-dayer Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first by setting up 226 runs for the loss of eight wickets after playing 30 overs. Ashraf Khan (25) with three boundaries, Adeel (22) with two boundaries and a six, Gohar hit magnificent 47 runs with four boundaries and a six, Junaid Khan (26) with three boundaries, Aimal Khan (24) runs and Majid (26) were the key contributors.
Obaid Khan claimed four wickets, Azhar Khan took three wickets and Tufail Khan got one wicket.
In reply, the Afghanistan team, who won the second one-days with eight wickets victory, failed to chase the target and bundled out for 111 runs in 17.1 overs Nabiullah and Obid Ullah were the key scorer who contributed 34 and 28 runs.
For Pakistan Adil claimed three wickets for just 4 runs in his two overs, Wajid took three for 26 runs, Tahir Khan took two wickets for 16 runs and Zia Noor got two wickets for 17 runs in his six overs spell.
At the end, the guests of honour, Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Sittara Ayaz and Provincial Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar gave away trophies and cash prizes.
Sittara Ayaz announced Rs 30,000 for the winner and Rs 10,000 for Afghanistan team besides Rs 5000 each for the best bowler Adil Khan, best fielder Sajid Khan (Pakistan), and best batsman Ashraf Khan with two best all round performance of Nabi Ullah and Obid Ullah of Afghanistan were also awarded cash prizes.
Mian Iftikhar Hussain on this occasion announced a cash prize of Rs 70,000 for winner team while Rs 30,000 for the Afghanistan team.
Speaking on this occasion Sittara Ayaz said that the government is very keen for providing due facilities to the special people and want that the 2 percent quota in the employment and educational institutions should be implemented with zeal and spirit.
Mian Iftikhar Hussain on this occasion lauded the efforts of Special Life Foundation and Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal for organising the event.
