While talking to media in Supreme Court premises on Tuesday, former law minister Dr Babar Awan said that those who attacked SC and Police stations were teaching us how to respect the judiciary.
He further said that Pakistan People's Party (PPP) always extended respect the Judiciary and would continue the tradition in future, adding that Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani announced to release all the judges from house arrest on the very first day after he got nominated as leader of the House.
No government in the past has implemented court's verdict as compared to the incumbent regime. Awan criticising Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif said that he did not respect court's verdict against his Principal Secretary Tauqeer Shah whom the High Court declared not hold any public office.
Similar, directives were issued by LHC about CPO Lahore Ahmad Raza Tahir but he was still enjoying the perks and privileges as CPO Lahore.
He accused Punjab government that it does not respect the judges of Sindh and does not even consider them judges because Punjab government has given shelter to Sindh High Court's absconder Rana Mqbool.
Awan said that Mian Shahbaz Sharif expelled Zafar Qureshi lead investigator of NICL land scam from the province but no one took notice of the move. Regarding the appointment of former Chairman NAB Syed Deedar Hussain Shah the former law minister said that federation has filed review appeal against court's verdict in the case and in coming days the Centre shall file another plea praying to initiating the process of appointment of Chairman in the light of Supreme Court's decision. The court would be requested to decide review appeal of federation before the previous appeal.
Only three days are left in implementing the court's verdict in Deedar Shah case and the federation has prayed to the court to suspend its previous order just to avoid any ambiguity.
The Supreme Court had given one-month time to the government for the appointment of Chairman NAB. After the court's verdict federation filed review appeal still pending before the court.
Regarding the appointment of Prosecutor General NAB, Awan's view was that his appointment would be made in consultation with Chairman NAB. Since the post of Chairman NAB is vacant the court allowed the government to consult Deputy Chairman NAB for the appointment of Prosecutor General NAB, he concluded.
