Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MNA Anjum Aqeel, who had surrendered himself to police on Saturday, was presented before a local court on Sunday amid tight security. He was presented before Judicial Magistrate (Duty Judge) Kashif Qayyum, who handed over the accused to police on one-day transit remand.
He would be taken to PIMS Hospital for medical examination, as Aqeel's counsel had pleaded for physical examination of Anjum Aqeel, which the court granted. According to police sources, Aqeel was wanted in four separate cases. Four FIRs were registered against the PML-N lawmaker till today. In 2009, he allegedly tried to bribe and threaten the administration of a school after it rejected admission to a candidate, who did not qualify for admission. Second FIR was registered in 2010 by a teacher, M Shafat, for his alleged fraud in payment of a plot.
The third FIR was registered against the MNA on corruption charges of Rs 6 billion in National Police Foundation (NPF) land scam case. The fourth FIR was registered for his escape from jail and attack on the police party.
