Senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference and the President of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, Shabbir Ahmed Shah has said that the authorities have imposed curbs on freedom of expression in occupied Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing a meeting of his party activists in Sopore, on Sunday, Shabbir Ahmed Shah said that the voice of people could not be suppressed through the use of brute force. He strongly denounced the arrest of a girl student, Qurat-ul-Ain by Indian police in Sopore on false charges and urged the world human rights organisations to help in her release.
The senior APHC leader strongly denounced the re-arrest of Hurriyet leader, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai after his release on court orders. He also expressed serious concern over the continued illegal detention of Hurriyet leaders and activists, including Aasiya Andrabi, Ghulam Nabi Sumjhi, Masarrat Aalam Butt, Abdul Aziz Dar, Qazi Yasir, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Shakeel Ahmed Bakhshi, Moulvi Bashir Ahmed, Pir Saifullah, Meraajuddin Kalwal and Muhammad Rafiq Ganai.
