Pakistani woman attacked at Niagara Falls

A Pakistani woman visiting the famous Niagara Falls on the north-western corner of New York State was assaulted in what is seen here as "a troubling symptom" of increased anti-Muslim sentiment across the United States, according to media reports on Saturday.
The unnamed 26-year-old Pakistani victim, wearing a hijab, was on her way to meet her husband in a parking lot when two American women in a van shouted ethnic and racial slurs before physically attacking her, The Buffalo News reported. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a Muslim civil rights body, said the assailants called her a "bloody Paki." The victim told CAIR she was dressed in traditional Pakistani attire at the time of the attack. One attacker was charged with third-degree assault as a hate crime. A second assailant is being sought by police.
