A 68-member delegation of students from Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tandojam faculty of animal husbandry and veterinary science (AHVS) on Saturday visited University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) and called upon its Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Muhammad Nawaz.
SAU final year DVM students of veterinary, pharmacology, microbiology, parasitology and pathology departments were led by Abdul Hussain Nazamani. They also visited UVAS Pet Centre, University Diagnostic Laboratory, Quality Operation Laboratory, Library, post-mortem house and outdoor clinic of the varsity.
Vice-chancellor UVAS Dr Muhammad Nawaz, while talking to the group of students, said "You have scope in meat technology, dairy processing, leather technology, biological drugs and vaccine production to serve the nation in a befitting manner". Livestock sector has much potential to bring a revolutionary change to transfer national fate of economy through applying modern practices and modern research.
About UVAS, he said "it is the fourth university that has won maximum projects from international agencies after the Quaid-e-Azam University, National University Science and Technology and Agriculture University, Faisalabad". He said this new university has won maximum research grants of rupees 572 millions from United States Agriculture Department, American Association for the Advancement of Science, Australian Centre Industrial Agriculture Research, International Atomic Energy Agency, Nestle and Norwegian research council.
There is no substitute to get top position in any profession with out hard work, adding that utter devotion and seriousness towards profession makes a man perfect in all field of life in this regard. He claimed that today, in many parts of the world, UVAS students are serving amongst the top world veterinarians. He said that Pakistan is facing critical phase of its history. "You are the shining future of Pakistan and do for the betterment of the nation".
Talking about the importance of veterinary education as well as its scope world-wide, UVAS VC Dr Nawaz said the students getting veterinary education should prove themselves strong veterinarians and helpful in boosting the livestock sector of the country, he added.
