'Comprehensive plan for creation of healthy society evolved'

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that promotion of healthy activities for the creation of healthy society is of great importance and Punjab government has evolved a comprehensive strategy for this purpose. He said that the work on the project of construction of more than 100 playgrounds has been started in the provincial metropolis and best facilities would be available to the players in these playgrounds.
The Chief Minister also gave approval to setting up a separate wing of sports in Parks and Horticulture Authority which will be responsible for the steps to be taken for beautifying these playgrounds with regard to promotion of sports.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting held with regard to construction of playgrounds in provincial metropolis and promotion of sports activities in the province. Member Provincial Assembly Khawaja Salman Rafiq, Secretary Communication and Works, Commissioner and District Co-ordination Officer Lahore, Director General Parks and Horticulture Authority attended the meeting. Additional Chief Secretary Nadeem Hassan Asif informed about the construction of playgrounds whereas District Co-ordination Officer Lahore Ahad Cheema regarding the steps taken for improvement of various areas.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that provision of recreational facilities and healthy atmosphere to the masses in the present era of anxiety is of great importance and besides Lahore, solid steps are being taken for providing recreational facilities in other cities of the province. He directed that besides youth, special attention should be paid to the provision of recreational facilities to the women and children and at least seven parks should be reserved for them in Lahore.
He said that immediate attention should also be paid to setting up libraries for making the masses fond of book reading and digital libraries should be set up at important places. He directed that food streets should be set up at five different places in Lahore where high quality eatable items should be provided to the people in a hygienic atmosphere. He directed that the ongoing work with regard to improving various localities in Lahore be completed during current month.
Earlier, Additional Chief Secretary Nadeem Hassan Asif gave a detailed briefing regarding the project of construction of playgrounds in the provincial metropolis. He informed that the work on this project is going on speedily which, besides cricket, included the projects of hockey, football, badminton, basket ball, gymnasium and swimming pool.
