Industrial activities in five industrial estates of the city resumed on Friday, which had come to a halt on Thursday due to the violent protest by supporters of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) against the statement of Sindh senior minister Zulfiqar Mirza.
On Friday, the city returned to normalcy following a day of violence and arson on Thursday, as public transport returned to the roads, all petrol pumps and CNG stations and business and commercial centers opened. Business leaders and representatives of transporters seemed convinced that the city situation had improved and there was no reason to keep the businesses closed.
Industrialists said that there was full attendance in their units and the workers after the statement of Altaf Husain asking his supporters to end protests had returned to work. The F.B. Industrial Area has over 2,000 units wherein 150,000-200,000 people are working as daily wages, contract and permanent basis. Due to the disturbance, the daily wagers lost their one-day income in face of the sky rocketing price hike. Industrialists have thanked MQM for its help to improve situation in the city.
