The Supreme Court of Pakistan has been moved against the revival of commission?erate system in Sindh. Petitioner Maulvi Iqbal Haider on Wednesday filed this petition under article 184 (3) of the Constitution of Pakistan. Maulvi Iqbal has made secretary law, Acting Governor of Sindh, Chief Secretary Sindh, and Secretary local bodies department as respondents.
He contended in his petition that the promulgation of three ordinances by the Acting Governor for the restoration of Sindh local government ordinance 1979 and Police Act 1861 and the land revenue act 1967 is a gross violation of article 5,9,14,15,16,19,25,32,140-A,175(3),261,264 and 270AA of the constitution.
Maulvi Iqbal has prayed urged the court to direct the federation to appoint permanent governor in the Sindh in the interest of province and suspend all the impugned ordinances issued by the Acting Governor, Nisar Ahmad Khuhro, on July 9th till a decision on his petition.
He has also made a request before the Chief Justice of Pakistan to examine and determine the matter which, according to him, is of great public importance. It may be recalled that Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry banned last year his entry into Supreme Court premises for filing frivolous petitions in the court.
