Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Ahmad Raza Tahir, has called upon Ulema to propagate message of peace, unity and brotherhood among their followers to defeat the nefarious aims of anti-state elements. He said Ulema can play a leading role in maintenance of law and order in provincial metropolis and thwart evil designs of terrorists.
He noted that all segments of the society will have to join hands to eliminate the curse of terrorism from society. He was talking to 33-member Ulema delegation of Ithad Bain-ul- Muslimeen which called on him at CCPO office the other day, under the leadership of its Co-ordinator, Mulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabeer. DIG Operations Ghulam Mehmood Dogar, SSP D&I Sharaq Kamal, SSP Admin Tariq Abbas Qureshi, SSP Operations Shaukat Abbas and SP Civil Line Liaqat Ali Malik were present on the occasion. Among other Ulema included: Mulana Zubair Ahmad, Pirzada Usman Noori, Mulana Naeem Badsha, Mulana Muhammad Khan Laghari, Hafiz Asad Ubaid, Mulana Asad Ullah Farooqi, Mulana Hussain Ahmad Awan, Mulana Fasih-ul-din, Mulana Jamil-ul-Rehman Akhtar, and Mulana Mian Muhammad Abdul Majeed. Ahmad Raza Tahir said religious harmony is the need of the hour at the moment and, in this regard a heavy responsibility falls on Ulema to play their positive and effective role and raise the consciousness of the masses in religious congregations against terrorism and suicide attacks.
CCPO appealed to the citizens, religious leaders and administrations of various mosques to keep gunmen, preferably from their own locality, to protect local or religious places and identify any suspicious individual. He further appealed the Ulema not to make misuse of loudspeakers and keep its volume limited to audience, ensure proper checking of persons entering the religious places, while keeping car, motorcycle and cycle stands well away from the crowd. CCPO also appealed to the Ulema to desist from sectarian sermons and, instead, forge among its followers an atmosphere of unity and brotherhood. Ahmad Raza Tahir also called upon citizens to keep a watchful eye on new tenants in the locality and directed police officers to keep a complete record of property dealers, hotels and guesthouses located in their respective areas.
Talking on the occasion, members of the delegation of leading Ulema assured CCPO Ahmad Raza Tahir of their wholehearted co-operation for integrity and solidarity of the country, and in elimination of all heinous crimes, including terrorism, from the society.
