Tax deal with Germany progressing: Swiss minister

Negotiations about a tax deal with Germany are making progress, Switzerland's finance minister Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf was quoted as saying on Saturday. "I spoke to German finance minister Wolfgang Schaeuble on the phone last week. We managed to solve some of the remaining issues," Widmer-Schlumpf told Swiss newspaper Aargauer Zeitung in an interview.
The Swiss government is trying to clinch deals with Germany and Great Britain to regularise billions of francs of untaxed assets stashed in secret Swiss accounts. Widmer-Schlumpf said Greece was also very interested in obtaining a tax deal with Switzerland. "But first the negotiations with Germany and Great Britain must be finalised," she said.
