Habib Bank Limited (HBL) has successfully acquired the status of an authorised derivatives dealer. HBL has already been active in the derivatives space for many years providing comprehensive service to its corporate and institutional client base. This significant development will further enhance HBL's capability to provide optimal solutions for its clients' financing and investment needs.
Due to liquidity constraints, the derivatives market has been slow to take a foothold in Pakistan. As the largest private bank in the country, HBL's inclusion in the ADD list will be beneficial for quicker development of the market making it more competitive, transparent and liquid - developments that are guaranteed to brighten its long term prospects. In the interest of market development, HBL is committed to working closely with SBP and SECP through FMA or directly as required.
HBL's Global Treasurer Salahuddin Manzoor has a derivatives background having run regional and global derivatives business previously. Manzoor will be assisted by Dr Adeel Hussain who also has international derivatives experience and heads derivatives trading at HBL.-PR
