CNG's price to be 40 percent less than petrol's: Petroleum Minister assures APCNGA

Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr Asim Hussain has assured the All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) that the government would keep a price difference of 40 percent between petrol and CNG. This was stated by Gahyas Abdullah Paracha, Chairman, Supreme Council of APCNGA, while taking to Business Recorder.
He said that the government recently announced to increase CNG price by 15 per cent in a bid to reduce the price difference between the CNG and Petrol and also extended gas load-shedding in Punjab from two days to three days besides starting CNG load-shedding in Sindh province.
APCNGA rejected the current decision of the government and launched country-wide protest. "Today we called an emergency meeting of all the zonal, regional and divisional presidents from all over Pakistan and CNG station owners to decide our future line of action," Paracha said.
The meeting passed a unanimous resolution against gas load shedding and price increase. During the meeting the petroleum minister Dr Asim called APCNGA for talks in his office and after negotiations the minister agreed to keep CNG price 40 per cent less than petrol and agreed to call a meeting to workout the allocation of gas to CNG sector on priority basis on 10 July. He especially directed SNGPL and SSGC to call meetings today (Tuesday). He announced that the 125 mmcfd gas from Kunna Pasakahi gas fields will be given to CNG, fertiliser and industry.
