FAISALABAD: President Pakistan People's Party Central Punjab Qamar uz Zaman Kaira Thursday said that the PPP neither wanted any delay in general election nor before time, rather they should be held on time.
Addressing a press conference here, he said that the PPP leadership and its workers had given unprecedented sacrifices for the sake of democracy.
He said that the PPP never supported any dictator nor it indulged in any undemocratic process. So we will also support democracy in future and work for its promotion and protection.
Kaira said that the PPP during its regime always protected the rights of farmers, laborers and traders besides stabilising the national economy. But now the sugar mills were exploiting growers, he alleged.
The mills are not paying full price of sugarcane which is sheer injustice and cruelty with the poor farmers, he said and stressed the need for full and on time payment to the sugarcane growers.
Responding to a question, Kaira said that census was a sensitive issue because it played vital role in division of national resources.
Therefore, the PPP wanted that the census results of selected blocks should be rechecked to remove apprehensions about them, he added.
