Accountability court adjourns Dar's corruption hearing till January 2

An accountability court adjourned on Thursday corruption proceedings against former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) till January 2.
Judge Muhammad Bashir was informed by NAB prosecutor about Islamabad High Court's (IHC) order that has restrained the accountability court from further proceedings against Dar, local media reported. When Judge Bashir asked for IHC’s restraining order, the NAB prosecutor informed him that they had applied for the court order's copy from IHC.
IHC restrains accountability court from proceeding against Dar
A day earlier, IHC restrained an accountability court from proceeding against Dar. Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb announced the verdict after hearing the petition filed by Dar’s counsel. Dar had filed a petition in which he had challenged the accountability court declaring him a proclaimed offender due to his continuous failure to appear before the court.
On December 11, the court declared Dar a proclaimed offender and warned his guarantor Ahmed Ali Qudusi that his surety bonds worth Rs5 million would be confiscated if Dar failed to join the trial proceedings.
