Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistani nation will have to unite to crush terrorism and face with full might such enemies as are weakening the country.
He said that time has come to get rid of the oppressive system and introduce such a system in the light of Uswa-e-Hasna and Meesaq-e-Madina, which is based on equality and justice. He stressed upon Ulema to come forward at this critical juncture for the solidarity and survival of the country and play their due role for promoting national unity. He said that his all out services are available for the strength and survival of Pakistan. Paying rich tributes to Dr Sarfaraz Hussain Naeemi, the Chief Minister said that he stood for truth and courage and set an enduring example by laying down his life for the supremacy of Islam.
He was addressing 'Shaheed-Pakistan Seminar' at the second death anniversary of Mufti Dr Sarfaraz Hussain Naeemi at Jamia Naeemia, Garhi Shahu, here on Sunday. Former foreign minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Member Parliament South Africa and a former student of Jamia Naeemia, Pir Syed Rafiq Hussain Shah, Members National and Provincial Assembly, Ulema, Mashaikh, intellectuals and a large number of students were present on the occasion. Mohtamim Jamia Naeemia Dr Raghib Hussain Naeemi presented the address of welcome.
The Chief Minister said that Pakistan is passing through the most critical phase of its history and facing terrorism, which has shaken the roots of the country. He said that innocent Pakistanis are being killed in the war against terrorism and besides 35 thousand ordinary people, five thousand officers and Jawans of Pak Army and police as well as their children have also embraced martyrdom. He said that terrorism is spreading across the country, therefore, the nation will have to unite on a single platform and ensure supremacy of justice and equitable distribution of resources as well as elimination of economic and social disparity. He said that only a handful of elite are enjoying privileges, while 85 per cent population of the country is deprived of even basic facilities. He said that it is not the Pakistan, which was envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal and for which millions of lives were sacrificed. He said, "we forgot Islamic teachings due to which we are facing problems and crises". He said that the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) will have to be adopted for achieving the national objectives. He said that in order to make Pakistan, a citadel of Islam such charity of outsiders will have to be turned down, which is soaked in the blood of Pakistanis and which compromise national honour and dignity. He said that Punjab government has taken the historic decision of rejecting such alms of outsiders, which bring disgrace to the country. He said that no patriotic Pakistani can accept such foreign assistance which is at the cost of national honour and lives of innocent citizens. He said that foreign assistance never brings prosperity and local resources will have to be developed, while austerity will have to be promoted for moving forward. He said that only the elites have enjoyed foreign aid during the last 63 years and now this segment will have to sacrifice.
The Chief Minister while paying tributes to Dr Sarfaraz Hussain Naeemi on his educational and religious services, said that he had played an important role for the stability of Pakistan, unity of Muslim Ummah and promotion of Islamic teachings. He said that the void created by the death of Dr Sarfaraz Hussain Naeemi could never be filled. He said that he would not rest content until the murderers of Dr Sarfaraz Hussain Naeemi are arrested and awarded due punishment. He said that just as Punjab government has started encouraging talented boy and girl students of educational institutions and position-holders similarly the students showing better performance in the modern education in seminaries will also be extended encouragement. He also announced to regularise the services of daily wage employees working at the mosque under the administrative control of the Auqaf Department. The seminar was also addressed by Dr Raghib Hussain Naeemi, former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Dr Aamir Liaqat Hussain, Pir Syed Rafiq Shah, Haji Muhammad Rafiq Ahmed Barkati and Sohail Warraich.
Earlier, the Chief Minister offered Fateha at the grave of Dr Sarfaraz Hussain Naeemi and prayed for the departed soul.
