The government has been providing a grant of Rs 1 billion to Bacha Khan Khpal Rozgar Scheme to overcome unemployment and to facilitate and promote entrepreneurship in the province. The programme is financed through a fund of Rs 1bn, which has been provided by the provincial government. It is estimated that around 80,000 individuals will benefit from the scheme with 30 percent share reserved for women.
Having rich experience in micro-finance operations, it was decided that Bank of Khyber would carry out the financial aspects of the scheme in terms of fund management loan disbursement and recovery in close collaboration with the government. Under the programme, the unemployed persons will be provided loans ranging from Rs 20, 000 to Rs 100, 000 per person. The eligible target groups will be provided interest free micro loans.
