The Chairman of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Salman Siddique, has said that the reduction in sales tax from 17 to 16 percent and abolition of the 2.5 percent special excise duty (SED) would be effective from July 1, 2011. Talking to Business Recorder here on Saturday, he clarified that the effective date of reduction in sales tax from 17 to 16 percent and withdrawal of the SED would be July 1, 2011. Any confusion in this regard is unfounded, he added.
